Lambert relieved of duties

There’s another coaching search about to happen as the Sabres have fired Dan Lambert, former head coach of the Rochester Americans.

It was his first season as coach, and the Amerks posted a record of 32-41-0-3, finishing seventh place in the North Division, only ahead of the Binghamton Senators.

“I would like to thank Dan for his hard work and contributions to our organization during the last two seasons and I wish him the best in the future,” Sabres GM Jason Botterill said. “I felt this was the right move for both the Sabres and Amerks and we will begin the process of searching for a new head coach immediately.”

The Amerks begin a new search for another coach. The new coach will be the fourth in as many years.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
