Back in D.C.

The Buffalo Sabres return to Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. on Saturday night for a rematch against the Washington Capitals.

Season series: Saturday’s matchup with the Capitals will be the second of three meetings between the clubs this year. Over this past weekend, Washington dealt Buffalo a 4-3 shootout loss in an exciting contest where Sam Reinhart just missed the potential game-winner late in the game. The teams will hook up again on February 23rd when the Capitals will visit KeyBank Center.

Buffalo notes: After a poor effort against the Panthers on Tuesday night, Buffalo will look to get back in the win column and keep pace with the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Even with the loss to Florida, Buffalo’s top line continues to dominate with Jack Eichel (11 points in last five games), Sam Reinhart (11-game point streak), and Jeff Skinner (2nd in league with 25 goals).

Washington notes: The Capitals continue to be one of the hottest teams in the league and lead the way on top of the Metropolitan Division. Even with their 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night, Washington are winners of 12 of their last 15 games. Alex Ovechkin continues to show why he is one of the best ever with his league-leading 29 goals. He was shut down in the loss to Pittsburgh, which ended his impressive 14-game point streak.
