This weekend, the Amerks traveled for their first road trip of the season, which consisted of playing three games in as many days. After winning on Friday against Springfield, the team suffered their first loss of the year to Providence. Rochester responded, however, with a come-from-behind win Sunday over Hartford to win two of their three games on this weekend’s road trip.

October 11 @ Springfield (W 2-1)
The Amerks traveled to Springfield to take on the Thunderbirds in the first game of the trip. Springfield took an early 1-0 lead off Sebastian Repo’s goal on the power-play with under a minute left in the opening period. Rochester responded in the second when Kevin Porter scored his first of the year on the power play, off assists from Tage Thompson and Zach Redmond to tie the game with under eight minutes left in the period. Porter’s goal was the team’s third PPG in two games thus far.

Both teams entered the third period with the game tied at 1, with Rochester holding a slim lead in shots, 22-16. Andrew Ogelvie broke the tie for his second of the year at the 11:07 mark, with an assist from Jacob Bryson, his first point as a pro. In the third period, Rochester had nearly as many shots on goal (18) as they had in the first two periods (22), and finished with a 40-21 edge. Andrew Hammond got the start in net and made 20 saves en route to helping the Amerks win this game.
October 12 @ Providence (L 3-2)
Coming off a win against Springfield, Rochester traveled to Providence as they looked to continue their hot start. Jean-Sebastian Dea scored his first goal of the year off assists from Bryson and Scott Wilson, which gave the Amerks the lead with over two minutes to go in the first.

Although the opening period ended with a 1-0 lead for Rochester, Providence responded early and often in the second.
Goals from Jakub Lauko and Anders Bjork gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead before C.J. Smith scored his first of the year off a Curtis Lazar assist to even the score once again.

Similar to the previous night, the game was tied after 40 minutes and the Amerks held a small edge in shots (22-17).
Unfortunately, this game ended differently, as the Bruins’ Oskar Steen scored with a minute remaining in regulation, and would be the game-winner. In Jonas Johansson’s season debut, he made 27 saves on 30 shots faced in the loss. Despite suffering their first loss, the Amerks have a chance to end the road trip on a positive note.
October 13 @ Hartford (W 3-2/SO)
After losing to Providence, the Amerks concluded their weekend road trip in Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack, who started the season with three consecutive wins. Although the shot totals remained close throughout the game, the first 20 minutes saw no goals scored.

In the second period, Filip Chytil scored for Hartford to give them the 1-0 lead halfway through the game, and Boo Nieves doubled the Wolf Pack’s lead as the second period ended. Despite trailing, the game was not out of reach, as Remi Elie scored his first, assisted by Tage Thompson and Andrew MacWilliam.
As regulation was nearly over, they still trailed until last year’s highest-scoring defenseman, Zach Redmond, tied the game with 13 seconds remaining.

The game would eventually need a shootout, where Tage Thompson scored the game-winner as the Amerks ended the weekend with a win. After having last game off, Andrew Hammond made 33 saves and remains undefeated in net.
